3 Reasons for an In-Home Photo Session
You know the drill. You schedule the family photo session with your favorite photographer months in advance. You have anxiety about the outfits everyone will wear, and the best location, and if the weather will be ok, and the fights you’re going to have with your husband about how much it costs, and how much he hates having his photo taken… believe me, I get it!
While I can’t guarantee you won’t fight with your husband, I can guarantee a few things about doing your session in your home.
Here are my top 3 reasons you want to choose an in-home session:
1- Weather doesn’t matter
We can shoot in your home rain or shine, windy or not! No need to worry about if it’s going to be too cold or too hot, or whether it will rain. Also, bonus: we don’t need to wait until “golden hour” to get the best light. In fact, we can shoot at any time of day and get beautiful filtered light all the time.
2- No travel stress
If you’re anything like my family, I don’t let my kids wear their outfits I’ve stressed about for months in case they spill something on it on the way to the shoot. We’re always running late, no matter how hard I try, which adds to my stress and creates tension between my husband and I.
3- Everyone is comfortable
Your husband and kids love being home, they’re comfortable there, which translates in your photos. And you don’t have to worry they’re going to climb up the rocks, go over the edge, or run into the street when you’re not looking. There’s easy access to the snacks (or bribes!) and if you have a newborn you need to feed I can easily spend that time getting amazing photos of your other kids with your husband or beautiful photos of you with your newborn - if you like that.
And if you’re thinking “that sounds great, but my house isn’t clean/modern/trendy/etc”, don’t you worry! We can shoot on the couch, on your bed, or just by a window. We only need a small space to get amazing photos and there is absolutely NO JUDGEMENT if the rest of your house is a wreck. I promise, I won’t even look ;)
School is starting again (can I get a hallelujah?!?!) and fall photo season is right around the corner. Consider choosing your home as the location and save yourself some stress!
